Brief Summary:
For three consecutive years as part of the World Rabies Day celebration, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte and the Global Alliance for Rabies Control has been conducting a province-wide quiz bee on rabies among public elementary stu-dents. With this, it was decided to include other communicable diseases that are also in the school program for this year’s Provincial Quiz Bee. The One Health Provincial Quiz Bee included Rabies, Dengue, and Helminthiasis as the main topics of the questions. The quiz bee was held last September 24, 2016 at the Provincial Capitol Auditorium, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
These additions of new topics were welcomed by the students and teachers as the competitors came prepared and an-swered the questions. A total of 156 students from Grades 1 to 6 and 26 teacher-coaches representing the 26 school dis-tricts attended the contest.
Simultaneously, an information and education campaign was conducted by Dr. Jeneveve Sulliva from the PVO and Ms. Luz Catubay From the PHO among the parents and guardians. Around 40 people were able to attend.
