Dr. Rosebelle Gamal Bitao guides a child as he plays the game on bite prevention and responsible pet ownership during the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) activity on rabies awareness and bite prevention in celebration of World Rabies Day 2016.
Led by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Veterinary Dispensary (AFPVD) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, an Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) on rabies awareness and bite prevention was conducted among the students of Yakap Daycare Center in Brgy. Camp Aguinaldo. A total of 38 children aged 2-5 years old were able to attend the class. The animated video of the story “Si Bino, Si Buboy, at Si Bantay Magkakaibigang Tunay” was shown to the class. Their teacher Ms. Normita Cajuilan used flashcards to further discuss bite prevention and management. Games using the activity board and coloring of the dog masks were the culminating activity for the children.
Simultaneously, the parents and guardians of the children attended a short education campaign in rabies awareness and prevention. Lieutenant Gerard Demayuga discussed about rabies and showed the video of Payong K-lusugan. He also encouraged the parents to bring their pets to the clinic for free rabies vaccination.
Furthermore, a fifteen-second advertisement on World Rabies Day celebration was regularly shown on three of their LED billboards from September 28 to October 5. These billboards are seen along the busy street of EDSA, Quezon City.
