Ilocos Norte was one of the hardest hit areas of the recent typhoon Lawin with the province declared under state of calamity after the typhoon. With this, the World Animal Protection, in coordination with the Provincial Veterinary Office and with the assistance of the Military Veterinary Association of the Philippines provided veterinary assistance through the conduct of veterinary missions in identified areas of concern. A three-day veter-inary mission was conducted on October 26-28, 2016. Free consultation for injured animals, anti-rabies vaccination of dogs and cats, deworming and multivitamin supplementation for dogs, cats, goats, cattle and carabao and provision of dog food were among the activities conducted. The organization also provided medicines and biologicals that can be used for the other veterinary missions.
• The municipalities visited were Batac, Badoc and Currimao as this municipalities reported high morbidity and mortalities in livestock.

• The team was composed of the volunteers from MVAP and WAP, PVO staff and GARC staff. The livestock coordinators and veterinarians in the municipalities coordinated with the barangays and communities in the conduct of the veterinary mission.
• Most of the dogs vaccinated were those less than 3 months during the yearly vaccination date conducted per barangay/village.
• The sick animals were also given antibiotics and vitamin supplementation
• Animals suffering from scabies were also given scabies treatment
