Mr. Marlon, the livestock coordinator from Carasi was vaccinating a dog when a couple of other dogs started fighting near him. He was bitten at his right leg. He then immediately came to the PVO office asking for assistance. We referred him to Maam Luz, the rabies coordinator of the Provincial Health Office. He was immediately given free anti-rabies vaccine and anti-tetanus toxoid. As rabies program implementers, one of the great risk is being bitten while vaccinating dogs/cats. It is during these cases that proper and efficient coordination among the human health and animal health sector are important to provide protection and assurance to the program field implementers.
