I was recently in rural Madagascar for a vaccination campaign relating to the 75000 doses of vaccine that were donated by BI.
The campaign in the Alaotra-Mangoro region launched on 21 August:
20 people (4 teams) vaccinated 3500 dogs and cats in 4 days in challenging conditions, including some very remote locations. Small villages with high numbers of reported human and animal rabies cases were targeted using both roving and fixed-point vaccination techniques.
Apart from GARC and BI, it would be the Madagascan DSV (Direction des Services Veterinaires de Madagascar) and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) - the IOC also helped to fund the campaign.
