GARC Communication & Education Associate, Nyj Verdadero interact with children during a game conducted as part of the Rabies Awareness Month 2015 Kick-off celebration in Makati City, Philippines.
With the theme “Bakunadong Pusa’t Aso, sa Rabies Protektado” (Vaccinate your Dogs and Cats to Protect them from Rabies), the celebration commenced with the National Rabies Awareness Month Kick-off organized by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI) held at the Fidelas Youth Club in Makati City last March 7, 2015 which was attended by at least 100 pet owners. Along with free veterinary services such as consultation, vaccination, and spaying and neutering of dogs and cats, GARC set up a booth for children which had a coloring and origami-making station. Educational materials on rabies such as comics and coloring books were also distributed. The team likewise had an interactive discussion with the children about interacting with their pet dogs as well as understanding their pet’s feelings to avoid getting bitten.
